ReadingSecond grade students are learning all about point-of-view in literature. We will be exploring various versions of the same story to understand how different characters view the same events in stories. In addition, we will be examining various pieces of art to explore point-of-view in our own lives!

WritingWe are have completed typing our research papers and added photographs from the internet to complete our final piece!
Now we move back into writing personal narratives (stories about ourselves)! This genre is more enjoyable for kids because it is easy to write about things we really did and felt! Students will learn how to add dialogue to enhance their story as well as how to magnify one event in their story by adding details. |
MathIn math, we will continue to work with whole number operations by using place value to add and subtract. Additionally, students will be measuring again using inches, centimeters and feet.
Lastly, students will be examining graphs in order to represent and interpret data. |
In science, we will be moving into a Forces and Motion Unit. Students will be experimenting with forces and interactions between objects.

In Social Studies, we will be reading Scholastic News and Time for Kids Magazines to think about the past, present and future. Students will look at conflicts within a community and determine how people solve problems by working together.
